TAHEDO is a non-governmental organization established in 2020 .It was registered under Tanzania’s NGO Act of 2002 to operate across Tanzania Mainland.
The organization focuses on heritage conservation, awareness campaigns, research, community empowerment and development . This is usually accomplished with variety of activities that empower the youths to take positive action through education, mobilization ,capacity building and raising awareness to take advantage of opportunities leading to socio-economic improvement and sustainable development individually and collectively.
TAHEDO works with communities, schools, museums, universities and stakeholders to ensure heritage resources are protected and sustainably utilized.

TAHEDO is dedicated to protecting Tanzania’s rich cultural and natural heritage for future generations. We implement sustainable conservation programs that preserve heritage sites, traditions, and community knowledge threatened by environmental change, urbanization, and neglect. By working closely with local communities and stakeholders, we strengthen ownership, resilience, and long-term protection of valuable heritage resources. For over 5 years we have so far conducted different conservation activities across Dar es Salaam city such programmes includes:
Kunduchi Ruins – Community-based conservation & clean-up
Mbwa Maji Ruins – Site protection & community engagement
Kimbiji Ruins – Preservation initiatives with local communities

We believe awareness is the first step toward lasting change. TAHEDO delivers impactful campaigns, training, and outreach programs that educate communities—especially youth—on the importance of heritage preservation and sustainable development. Tahedo , positioned at the intersection of cultural expression, public education, and social advocacy. Rather than functioning as purely aesthetic events, these exhibitions operate as communication platforms—translating complex social issues into accessible, visual narratives that can engage diverse audiences across literacy levels.
A practical example is Art Exhibition for Albinism Awareness, implemented in collaboration with Pamoja Tunaweza Project ( PTP) and the National Museum of Tanzania under the Museum Art Explosion Program. This exhibition curated artworks that reflected the lived experiences, challenges, and resilience of people with albinism, using visual storytelling to humanize an issue often misunderstood or stigmatized.

As we look forward to strengthening and establishing more partnerships and friendships the organization has established partnerships with local and international bodies, including: Government institutions, NGOs, community organizations, Universities, research institutions and Cultural heritage organizations

Hamburg city in the ministry of culture and media under sister partnership between Dar es Salaam city council and Hamburg city

We have collaborated with National Museum of Tanzania , DUHASA ( Daresalaam University Heritage and Archaeology Students Association, and Pamoja Tunaweza Projects (an initiative by women in Tanzania which works in Albinism Advocacy)
