Our Team

Dr. Lwoga is a tourism and heritage scholar, educator and institutional strategist, serving as Director General of the National Museum of Tanzania (NMT) and Senior Research Associate at the University of Johannesburg.

Balele Sylivester Kafumu is an independent researcher and Chairperson of TAHEDO, focused on advancing cultural heritage as a tool for identity, community empowerment, and sustainable development. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Heritage Management from the University of Dar es Salaam (2019).

Mr. Fea Michael Nyamwaika is a dedicated cultural officer currently serving at the Njombe Town Council.  With a strong passion for cultural preservation, heritage management, and community development, Mr. Nyamwaika has actively contributed to promoting cultural values and empowering communities through various initiatives.

MR PIUS GONDEKA Following his graduation in 2019, Pius began his professional journey at the National Museum of Tanzania, where he worked as a History Curator. In this role, he engaged directly with visitors from around the world, transforming historical collections into compelling narratives. His ability to communicate history in an engaging and accessible way led him to the National College of Tourism, where he served as a Tutor in Tour Guiding Operations, training the next generation of guides with a strong focus on cultural and heritage tourism interpretation. 

Batholomeo Chinyele is a Cultural Officer at the Kinondoni Municipal Council and a researcher specializing in built heritage conservation and cultural heritage studies. He has contributed to various academic journals through his research and publications in the field of heritage preservation. Batholomeo is also a co-founder of the TAHEDO, where he plays an active role in promoting heritage conservation, cultural awareness, and community engagement initiatives.

Ms. Mtenguzi works at the National Museum of Tanzania as a conservator of monuments and sites, overseeing the MbuaMaji heritage sites in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. She holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Heritage Management from the University of Dar es Salaam, and graduated from the European Interdisciplinary Master's in African Studies at Porto University in Portugal.

Abass Ramadhan Mdaki is cultural heritage conservator with experince of five year work at National Museum of Tanzania and house of culture,inventory, tour guid and cultural heritage impact assment(CHIA). He serves as Tresure at Tahedo.

Salim Jelejeza is a Cultural Officer and Curator at the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts, and Sports in Tanzania. Salim specializes in heritage and African studies and is actively involved in organizations such as the African Liberation Heritage Center (ALHC), International Council of Museums (ICOM) and the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS).

Mariam Gichan Athman is a communications professional, journalist, and archaeologist with a background in Mass Communication and Archaeology. She serves as Secretary at Tahedo, bringing strong organizational, administrative, and communication skills to the role.
